PISD Feeder Realignment
PISD is experiencing a lot of growth in the eastern cluster (much of the growth is outside the city of Plano, but inside PISD). PISD is opening Otto Middle School in 2010 and McMillen High School in 2011 in the eastern cluster. In order to balance school enrollment and best use facilities (not over crowd schools), PISD has started a feeder realignment process.
The school board set some rules to the committee making recommendations. They where:
1. Align feeder systems, not redraw boundaries
2. Study recommendations of Blue Ribbon Committee - 2002
3. Use Public Hearings to solicit input
4. No split secondary feeders
5. Two high schools feeding each senior high school
6. Balanced enrollments over time
7. Providing growth capacity in the Eastern part of the District
8. Consideration of existing facility capacity
There are four proposals for the center and west clusters. Here is the impact on Denham Village:
CW-1: Mathews -> Schimelpfenig -> Jasper HS -> Plano West Senior HS
CW-2: Mathews -> Schimelpfenig -> Clark HS -> Plano Senior HS
CW-3: Mathews -> Schimelpfenig -> Vines HS -> Plano Senior HS
CW-4: Mathews -> Schimelpfenig -> Clark HS -> Plano Senior HS (differs from CW-2 in ways that doesn't affect Denham Village)
There are 3 public hearings on this, and they are identical and all start at 7 PM (so you can attend the one that is best for you):
Monday 10/5 - Plano East Senior High Cafeteria
Wednesday 10/7 - Plano Senior High Cafeteria
Thursday 10/8 - Plano West Senior Cafeteria
If you care about this subject, I encourage you to attend and register to speak (if only say you prefer option X). All speakers have to register by 7:30 PM. Speakers are limited to 3 mins.
